Ebay - oggi titolo più scambiato del nasdaq- perde oltre il 18% dopo aver dichiarato un utile inferiore di un penny rispetto alle attese ed una previsione sulle vendite/utili del primo trimestre al disotto delle aspettative del mercato. Il gigante delle aste online annuncia poi uno split 2-for-1.
eBay's weaker report and forecast sparks tech sector selloff, sending the Nasdaq sliding.
"eBay is just today's problem, but it points out what's been bothering the market over the last few weeks," said Art Hogan, chief market analyst at Jefferies & Co.
"Earnings growth is still going to be good, but it's decelerating."
"We believe this is the first time eBay has ever missed the Street's (earnings per share estimate)," American Technology Research analyst Mark Mahaney said.
